Angel’s
Gate:The Movie is the amazing story of Susan
Marino and the country's only official (residential)
animal hospice. Nestled in a quiet suburban neighborhood
in Long Island, NY, Angel's Gate is home to hundreds
of animals who are sick, physically challenged,
and dying.
Susan Marino is a former nurse who has dedicated
her life to the rehabilitation and care of creatures
who are otherwise disposed of quickly through euthanasia.
Now in its tenth year of operation, Angel’s
Gate is in danger of being eradicated by neighbors
and town officials in conflict who feel the facility
is a burden to their normal lives.
This documentary not only focuses on the realities
of the hospice but also the political conflict that
has put Angel's Gate's entire existence in jeopardy.
The film will raise awareness in several areas.
By focusing on Susan and a collection of volunteers,
it will create awareness that our pets can be rehabilitated
from injury and sickness and might convince pet
owners not to dispose of these wonderful creatures
so easily.
Secondly, Angel’s Gate:The Movie
(through its political focus) will help make it
possible for the facility to stay operational and
allow more people to learn of the facility's work
and its value to the community.
Angel’s Gate:The Movie is being produced
by Christopher Garetano's Fortuneteller Films, Inc.
The documentary is authored and directed by Garetano.
Garetano's first feature documentary is the critically
acclaimed Horror Business (recently released
on DVD by Image Entertainment). Horror Business
played in film festivals around the world and received
numerous awards and accolades along the way.
Christopher plans to complete the picture by spring
of 2009. So far, Angel’s Gate:The Movie
has been financed solely by Fortuneteller Films,
Inc.
Angel’s Gate:The Movie has been a
labor of love for Fortuneteller Films, and we are
currently seeking completion funds in order to complete
the project properly. |
