YOUNG VOLUNTEERS More and more children under the age of 16 have been joining our volunteer corps. They bring their special gifts of wonder, enthusiasm and love of animals enriching us all. Of course they must and do contribute their labor, as well. We never want to turn down a volunteer because of age. Presently they range from 10 to 87 years young. However, people under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. It is especially inspiring when our younger volunteers use their talents, determination and courage and do things that have impact in the greater community. For example if you visit our DUCKLING PROJECT PAGE you will meet Tim Eisemann who through is extraordinary determination and guile rescued 22 ducklings. Below is a article published in NEWS DAY their KIDS DAY section on Feb --2005. The drawing and text were contributed by Samantha and Nicole, respectively, The result of their collaboration has been an in pouring of applications from young volunteers and their parents. Sam and Nicole were honored by the Kings Park School Board of Education for their contributions as volunteers at Angel's Gate! Long time volunteer Kim Moran, who recently donated her hair to kids undergoing cancer treatment, inspired her religion class to visit and to raise money for Angel's Gate. Two members of that class were the very same Samantha and Nicole mentioned above. Marina came from France to volunteer for a month!
In some cases, we have reached out to groups such as Commack H.S. to help with leaf raking.
